Below I will try to answer your questions about the LEDE Virtual Lodge. Please feel free to comment as well as submit other questions for answering to damien@usc.edu.

    "What is LEDE?"

LEDE stands for Lauren Evans Damien Elwood. It is a nickname for the two of us given to us by JJAAM. That's Joshua, Jessica, Andy, Alicia, and Martha. Four of our closest friends.

    "Why LEDE Web?"

LEDE Web is really the Virtual Lodge version 2.0. The original LEDE Virtual Lodge started as a concept in late 1994. It became a reality on July 13th, 1995 with the registration of glyfix.com by Internic. LEDE Web is just one of serveral sites hosted by Glyfix. But it is perhaps the most important because it is strictly personal.

Much has been made about the commercial applications of the World Wide Web. But in my opinion, it is the potential to revolutionize personal communication which makes the web socially significant. So in our tiny way, LEDE Web is taking part in this revolution. We hope it helps you to do so as well.
